James Thompson

Hey there, I’m James—most folks just call me Grizz. I spent 12 years in the U.S. Army and another 10 kicking doors as a SWAT officer down in Dallas, Texas. Life’s thrown me a few curveballs, but I’ve learned to swing back harder. I’m here to help you figure out your next move and make sure you land on your feet, whether you’re fresh outta uniform or looking to join the first responder ranks.

My Story

My Military Journey
I signed up for the Army at 18, fresh out of high school and eager to see the world. Those years taught me discipline, teamwork, and a hell of a lot about myself. I served as an Infantryman and later transitioned into a leadership role, mentoring young soldiers who reminded me of myself—rough around the edges but full of potential.

Becoming a First Responder
When my boots hit U.S. soil for the last time, I wasn’t ready to hang it all up. I wanted a job where I could keep serving, so I joined the Dallas PD and eventually found my place on the SWAT team. There’s nothing quite like the camaraderie of a team and the rush of knowing you’re making a difference, one call at a time.

Why I Chose to Be an Ambassador

I've been there—staring at a transition that feels like a black hole, not knowing what’s next. I’ve had sleepless nights wondering if I was making the right choices. That’s why I’m here. I want to be the guy I wish I’d had when I was figuring it all out. Whether you need advice, resources, or just someone to shoot the breeze with who’s been in your boots.
